Montessori Aide

T/TH 8:30-4:00

The Montessori Aide is a specific role in the Montessori classroom for supporting the Guide and the environment. The aide does not provide instruction, but maintains the peaceful and smooth operation of the classroom, including record keeping and weekly emails to parents. A successful aide enjoys this age group (3-5 years), sees the value of the Montessori philosophy, and is open to further professional development. The aide at Regina Mater also brings joyful love for Jesus and Mary and belief in the fullness of the Catholic faith. The aide must be available for setup and take down.

Lower School (1st-8th)- Fine and Practical Arts

Cana (Middle School) Guide - Citizenship and Entrepreneurship

T/TH 11:00-11:30

The Cana Guide will work with middle school students on citizenship and entrepreneurship learning projects with the goal of forming young men and women “for others,” as St. Ignatius says. Citizenship involves Socratic seminar, Plutarch, public speaking, and writing. Entrepreneurship uses materials from Catholic University of America and Empowered Youth. Students will also be completing Montessori-inspired agricultural business projects as part of our partnership with Headlong Farm.

Cana (Middle School) Guide - Bible and Catechism

Wed 12:00-2:00

The Cana Guide works with the Theology chair to implement a survey of the New Testament and Compendium Catechism of the Catholic Church. The class is considered “enrichment” and not sacrament preparation; however, our classes go above and beyond typical catechesis, engaging the Word of God as true, intelligible, and transformative. Service learning may also be incorporated into the school year in conjunction with entrepreneurship. A masters in theology from a Catholic university is preferred. BA from a Catholic university is a minimum requirement.
